Homeless drive

Posted on Updated on

Homeless-Man copyATTENTION! Open Hearts Ministry is holding a homeless drive over the next couple months. We are collecting gently used or new shoes/boots, socks, tarps, coats, blankets, hats & gloves for adults and children. Over the next few months and throughout the cold season we will be taking these items to the streets in Lorain County and possibly Cleveland and handing them out to people of need. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Many of you have been blessed with what you have and we, as a society, take for granted the simple things that we have. Lets help those in need because no matter the circumstances that got people in the trouble they are in, they are still our brothers and sisters out there living on the streets with no one to help them. Lets be that beacon of hope for them. Please contact Chris Swenk (440-310-6255) or Jen Casey Moss (440-281-1055) to arrange for pick up or drop off of items. Spread the word! Thanks and God bless

I just want to thank everyone that came out yesterday to support Open Hearts first community event at South Central Saturday. Breaking Chains was a great success and after months of planning and hard Work put in by the group it was pulled off. I would like to thank all those who donated there time and effort to the cause. Also I would like to thank Cathedral of Life for there offering that was given to the ministry as a seed to be used for the upcoming building. Also to all those that committed to financially supporting this event, your faithfulness is greatly appreciated. A big thank you goes out the brave men that came to speak yesterday from the Grafton Integration Center, some would call them prisoners but from what I heard and saw, I’d say they are alot more free than some of us. There Hearts were pure and there words were filled with Love. If and when you see this, thank you Jay, we love you and what God has done in your life. What you Did took courage and Jeremy would be proud. J.D. your realness was awesome and we wish you luck, God will do great things with you . What’s Keeping You from Your Goal?

Ask yourself, “Why haven’t I reached my goal already?” What are the barriers, obstacles, and road blocks in your way? It may be a financial problem or a relational problem or an educational problem holding you back. For some people, it’s an emotional barrier. A lot of people sabotage their own success because they think they aren’t worthy of it. Whatever your barrier is, you need to identify it before you can move forward. In Genesis 24, Eliezer had a number of barriers to his goal of finding a wife for Isaac. He had to figure out how to get to a country he’d never been to, then he had to find the right woman he’d never met. And then he had to convince her to go back with him to a country she’d never been to and marry a complete stranger. Oh, and he had to convince her parents to let her go! Most people would call that “mission impossible.”

Today I have an assignment for you. I want you to write down on paper what your goals are and then I want you to list the barriers. Why am I having you do this? Because you can’t remove an obstacle until you first identify what it is.

Focus your Life with an Open Heart

The next ten years can be the greatest of your life. They can become a Decade of Destiny, where your life is focused and, as a result, you’re able to make an impact in all you do. To get where you believe God wants you to go and be what you know God wants you to be, there are several steps you need to take that will get you focused —

First, determine your present position — You’ve got to know where you are before you can know where you are going. To do that, ask yourself two questions:

Where am I now? Where are you spiritually, financially, emotionally, relationally, physically, and occupationally?

What would I like to change? In all of those areas you identified, what would you like to be different?

God promised Abraham that he would become the father of a great nation. But in Genesis 24, we find Abraham is now an old man and his son, Isaac, still doesn’t have any children yet. Abraham assessed the situation and, as a result, he sent his servant, Eliezer, to find a wife for Isaac.  An important principle here is that it is never too late for you to make a change in your life, even though making the change may take longer than you think. This is why you can’t procrastinate. You can either drift through the next ten years or you can have direction over the next ten years. God wants you to have direction.

Pouring out his heart with tears, David was completely honest with God. We can be honest with God even when we are filled with anger or despair because God knows us thoroughly and wants the very best for us. Anger may result in rash outward acts or turning inward toward depression. But because we trust in our all-powerful God, we don’t have to be victims of circumstance or be weighted down by the guilt of sin. Be honest with God, and he will help you turn your attention from yourself to him and his mercy.
God bless from Open Heart’s!!

A fellow Pastor once told me the key to ministry is when you walk in and lead, you must have a turtle shell. Open Hearts is thriving and building, it is a adjustment for some and an awakening for others. As we grow and build, we will gain many and may lose few. All we can do is pray for them and stay connected. God has given this group of individuals an opportunity to change a community, change a city and most importantly change lives one person at a time. The only reason we get tested and challenged is because we are not standing still, we are shaking the ground we walk on in Jesus name and the devil is trembling. Hang in there and keep fighting the fight. We are made to be victorious.

God bless you guys and gal’s.
